Tips for Preventing Acne at Any Age

From sweet 16 to fabulous 40 and beyond, acne is a condition that affects almost everyone at some time in their lives.

It’s important to remember that acne has both internal and external causes,However, there are some basic precautions you can take to help prevent breakouts.”

•Don’t pick, pop or squeeze, or otherwise mess with your skin. Squeezing blemishes or whiteheads can lead to infection or scarring. It almost always makes the acne you have worse.
•Wash your pillowcase often and always use clean face towels. Dirty towels and pillowcases can harbor bacteria and germs that can make acne worse.
•Be sure to pull your hair away from your skin when you sleep.
•Try to shower as soon as possible after your workout since sweat combined with skin oils can trap dirt and bacteria in your pores.
•Don’t go to bed with makeup on. It can clog your pores and lead to breakouts.
•Make sure to clean cosmetic brushes regularly in soapy water and throw out old, contaminated makeup.
•Use topical treatments, anywhere that you tend to get breakouts -- don't just spot-treat existing pimples. The pore-clogging process happens two to three weeks before any blemish becomes visible on the skin.

Because acne is caused by a combination of factors, including internal triggers that can cause imbalances inside the body, and an overproduction of oil and trapped bacteria on the outside, the most effective way to treat it is by addressing both areas

•Exercising regularly can help reduce stress and it increases blood circulation and oxygen penetration to the skin, which may help to prevent acne.
•Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day to help "detoxify" the body from the inside out.
By taking these simple precautions, most people can reduce the occurrence of acne. There are also a variety of products available to help in healing or preventing breakouts. However, consumers should be careful about what they choose to use.

chemical peels

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a technique designed to remove the dead skin cells from the skin's surface layer and re-stimulate the regenerative process.

During a chemical peel treatment, a variety of chemicals are applied to the skin. The chemicals are derived from fruit, vinegar and sugar cane. High doses of vitamins can also be added during the treatment.

Chemical Peels removes excessive buildup of dead skin cells, smoothes and tighten the skin, lightens brown spots, diminish puffiness and circles around the eyes and treats sun damaged skin

Types of Chemical Peels

There are 3 main types of chemical peels

1.Superficial peels
◦Superficial chemical peels are the mildest type of chemical peel and can be used on all skin types.
◦Superficial chemical peels usually use liquid containing a dilute acid, most often glycolic acid.
2.Medium peels
◦Medium chemical peels penetrate the skin more deeply than superficial peels and cause a second-degree burn of the skin.
◦Trichloroacetic acid is the main peeling agent used for medium peels.
3.Deep peels
◦Deep chemical peels penetrate several layers of skin and cause a second-degree burn of the skin.
◦They are the strongest kind of chemical peel and are used only on the face.
◦Deep chemical peels are reserved for individuals with deep wrinkles from sun exposure or is used to treat skin wrinkling around the lips and chin area.
◦Deep peels tend to bleach darker skin .
◦A deep peel can be done only once in most cases

What Happens the days Immediately Following a Chemical Peel?

During the three to four days immediately following a chemical peel, most people have the following experiences:

1.Increased Sensitivity
2.Redness - blotchiness
3.Tightness and Dryness
4.Swelling and scabbing
◦Deeper peels usually scab and swell.
5.Peeling

Important facts!

Mandelic acid
has a long history of use in the medical community as an antibacterial. It has also been used as an oral antibiotic. In skin care, it is also an alternative to glycolic acid in skin care products. Mandelic acid is also advantageous in that it possesses antibacterial properties, whereas glycolic acid does not. Its use as a skincare modality was pioneered by Dr James E. Fulton, who developed vitamin A acid (tretinoin, Retin A)in 1969.On the basis of this research, dermatologists now suggest mandelic acid for a wide variety of skin concerns, from acne to wrinkles; it is especially good in the treatment of adult acne as it addresses both of these concerns. Mandelic acid is also recommended is a pre- and post-laser treatment, reducing the amount and length of irritation caused by laser resurfacing.

What Results To Expect From Power Peel Microdermabrasion Unit?
Some specialists who have used the Power Peel microdermabrasion machine say that the Power Peel equipment does work on fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation, seborrhea and psoriasis, dull and blemished skin. They also say that the system can be used successfully on the whole body.

We found a preliminary Power Peel report, written by dr. Steven B. Hopping illustrating results from a case study carried out in Philadelphia, in November 1996. Four patients were treated for blotchy skin, mild to moderate wrinkles, acne scarring, and enlarged pores.

The clinical results showed:

More uniform skin tone
Fewer wrinkles, especially around the mouth and eyes
Scars were less noticeable
Pores were less prominent
The skin was overall softer and smoother

Frequently Asked Questions
Can Micro Dermabrasion Be Used On Red Marks?
By removing the top layer of the skin, professional microdermabrasia diminishes or even removes superficial red marks. Deeper red marks require a more invasive procedure, like deep chemical peeling or laser resurfacing.

Can Microderm Abrasion Be Used If I Am In My Teens?

Can Microderm Abrasion Work On Stretch Marks?
Stretch marks appear on your skin as uneven skin tone and texture. By exfoliating the outermost layer of the skin, micro derma brasion kit evens out skin tone and texture, thus reducing or totally removing stretchmarks.

Are Microdermal Abrasion And IPL Equally Effective?
Intense Pulsed Light is a non-invasive procedure capable of diminishing or removing age spots (liver spots), fine wrinkles (rhytids), facial flushing, redness, broken capillaries, freckles, minor sun damage, tattoos, varicose veins, spider veins, flat birth marks and hypo-pigmentation. Unfortunately, IPL is not recommended for dark skinned people and persons suffering from oily skin. In short, IPL and micro derma brasion have similar results and are both non-invasive, but micro dermabration has fewer contraindications.

Can You Apply Makeup After Microdermbrasion?
Some specialists recommend using mild make-up to cover the redness on your face while others say that any type of liquid or powder foundation or any other type of cover up is absolutely forbidden in the first 2-3 days after micro abrasion The best thing to do is ask the doctor who performed the procedure whether you can use foundation or not immediately after the treatment. All doctors agree, though, that some mascara and lip gloss are completely harmless.

Q: Microdermabration Is It Effective On The Body?
Do-It-Yourself microderm abrasion systems can be used on your body as long as it's especially formulated as a body micro dermal abrasion tool. Using a face micro derm abrasion kit on your body will not have the desired effects because it's much too mild to have a significant effect on your body. Dermatologist-performed microabrasions is suitable for use on the body except for the feet where the skin is too thin.

What Does Microdermbrasion Do If I Have Keratosis?
Keratosis sufferers should not use micro derma abrasion This procedures is somewhat invasive to the skin (any skin rejuvenation treatment is to some extent) and can worsen their condition. This applies to personal micro derm abrasion as well, despite its mild effect.

What Can Go Wrong With Micro Dermabrasion?
Compared to other cosmetic procedures, microdemabrasion involves few risks: if the machine is not properly handled or has not been properly sterilized, hyperpigmentation, skin injuries or infections may occur as a result; it is also possible to inhale micro crystals used during the procedure. Aluminum oxide crystals, however, cause no allergic or adverse reactions. Eye injury from stray micro crystals used to be a concern but these days plastic or rubber goggles makes it extremely unlikely.

Does Microderm Abrasion Make A Difference If You Have Rosacea?
